Physicochemical Processes of Single Liquid and Solid Particles in an Electrodynamic Chamber

چکیده
Physicochemical processes of single liquid and solid particles have been studied in an electrodynamic chamber (EDC) in the size from 0.1 to 250 micron and in the temperature range 300-3500 K. From the forces applied on a heated particle suspended in an EDC (gravity, electric, free convection, photophoretic, imposed flow) one can deduce valuable information on significant changes that the particle is undergoing. Furthermore, one can measure in the EDC the following properties or quantities in real time: temperature, mass, shape and dimensions, density, porosity, total surface area, active surface area, heat capacity, thermal conductivity, optical properties, and reaction rate). Topics in the following areas have been investigated by the EDC: (1) Hydrodynamics (laminar flow). (2) Mass transport (evaporation, free convection). (3) Spectroscopy (Raman and Mie scattering, IR). (4) Surface chemistry (adsorptiondesorption). (5) High temperature chemistry (oxidation, combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, decomposition, ignition, explosion) (6) Phase transition (melting) (7) Radiation (emission, photophoresis, internal absorption, pyrometry). (8) Solid state (charge transfer). (9) Morphology (evolution of pore structure). (10) Electrodynamics (stability, motion of charged particles) (11) Electro-optical Control (PID).

A Model For The Residence Time Distribution and Holdup Measurement in a Two Impinging Streams Cyclone Reactor/Contactor in Solid-Liquid Systems
In this paper a two impinging streams cyclone contacting system suitable for handling of solid-liquid systems has been studied. Certain pertinent parameters such as: solid holdup, mean residence time and Residence Time Distribution (RTD) of solid particles have been investigated. A stochastic model based on Markov chains processes has been applied which describe the behavior of solid partic...
متن کاملBed Voidage and Heat Transfer in Non-Newtonian Liquid-Solid Fluidized Bed
The presence of particles in liquid-solid fluidized beds enhances the bed heat transfer, because the movement of the particles leads to an increased turbulence in the system. Moreover, the violent movement of the particles has a positive effect on fouling of the heat transfer surface. The aim of this investigation was to perform systematic measurements of bed voidage and heat transfer coeff...
متن کاملEffect of colloidal Particles associated with the liquid bridge in sticking during drying in Superheated Steam
It is very important in the design of a drying system is to evaluate sticking behaviour of the materials goes under drying. A new approach to the sticking issue is applied in this study by carrying out a sticking test for the liquid associated with the materials under study. It was found that the liquid bridge is responsible of the initial sticking of the materials to the contact surface and th...
متن کاملCFD Hydrodynamics Analysis of Syngas Flow in Slurry Bubble Column
In this paper, a CFD model of syngas flow in slurry bubble column was developed. The model is based on an Eulerian-Eulerian approach and includes three phases: slurry of solid particles suspended in paraffin oil and syngas bubbles. Numerical calculations carried out for catalyst particles, bubble coalescence and breakup included bubble-fluid drag force and interfacial area effects. Also, the ef...
